Several Installation Methods for Linear Guides
With the wide application of high-precision linear guides in industrial automation, it is essential to master proper installation techniques. Correct installation methods for linear guides can effectively improve their service life and operational accuracy.
1. Installation Using the Reference Surface
First, roughly fix the bottom reference surface of the linear guide to the mounting surface of the base with assembly screws. Then use a vise to press the side reference surface of the guide rail tightly against the side mounting surface of the base to confirm the position. After positioning, use a torque wrench to tighten the fixing screws in sequence with a specified torque, pressing the bottom reference surface of the guide rail firmly against the base mounting surface.
2. Installation of the Driven-Side Linear Guide
1. Linear Block Gauge Method
Place a linear block gauge between the two linear guides. Use a dial indicator to calibrate the linear block gauge parallel to the side reference surface of the reference-side guide rail. Then calibrate the driven-side guide rail against the linear block gauge, starting from one end of the driven rail, and tighten the assembly screws in sequence with a specified torque.
2. Moving Platform Method
Secure two blocks of the reference-side guide to a measuring platform, and install only one block on the driven side. The guide rails and blocks are not yet fixed to the base or platform. Use a dial indicator mounted on the top surface of the driven-side block to measure its side reference surface. Calibrate starting from one end of the driven linear guide, and tighten the assembly screws in sequence with a specified torque.
3. Reference-Side Imitation Method
Fix two blocks of the reference-side linear guide and one block of the driven-side guide to the platform. Then loosely fix the driven-side guide rail and its remaining block to the base and platform respectively. Move the platform with reference to the reference-side guide rail. Starting from one end of the guide rail, confirm the rolling resistance of the driven-side linear guide while tightening the assembly screws in sequence with a specified torque.
4. Special Tool Method
Use professional tools to determine the position of the driven-side guide rail, and tighten the assembly screws in sequence with a specified torque.
